Educating the World about Stuttering
When major players in politics or the media disrespect people who stutter, there may be an impact beyond the intended target. Organizations in support of people who stutter can respond on social media condemning the insulting remarks. This Roundtable explores what other actions groups and individuals can take to provide a more balanced understanding of stuttering to the general public and media figures. These big or small actions may be in response to a high profile insult or simply as a proactive measure to reduce stigma surrounding stuttering. What are some actions people are already doing? Can efforts be coordinated for a more effective response? Can we brainstorm more ideas to help the general public or media figures understand stuttering and view communication differences in a more positive light?
This Roundtable will be hosted by Laura Johnson. We hope you join us and contribute to this important discussion.
